Y campers enjoy creatingThe Family YMCA's purpose is to address the outstanding needs in our communities. We believe that relationships and physical presence are the best means to deliver lasting personal and social change.

The Y understands the importance of partners in delivering change. Numerous partners and collaborators are noted in the link above.

We are very thankful for those who work with the Y in support of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Some key partners are also detailed below.

The United Way of Northern New Mexico/Los Alamos has been a key partner since we opened our doors in 1955. They have supported scholarships to enriching after school and camp programs, and today are a champion of our Espanola YMCA Teen Center.

From 2009-2016, and in 2018-2022, the state of New Mexico's Youth Conservation Corps awarded the Y significant grants to employ youth in public words for community good, to provide them with marketable job skills, and to encourage continuing education. The Y typically employs up to 50 youth for work on local trails. For this program, we also partner with Los Alamos County's Open Space and Trails Department, and the Espanola Ranger District. The High Altitude Athletics' Club has also supported our YCC in recent years.

In 2017, the Volunteer Task Force, Bandelier National Monument, Delle Foundation and the Pajarito Trail Fest provided funds to sponsor the Y Baldelier Corps, a summer youth employment program.

Here is a video of this program's impact.

Additionally and separately, the Delle Foundation has funded the Y's Earth Service Corps (YESC) program, a summer job training program for middle school youth, and has provided support to both our teen centers in Los Alamos and Espanola.

Through a formal agreement, the Y partners with Los Alamos Public School to provide on-site childcare at the elementary schools so that parents can have enriching and safe care for their children afterschool. LAPS also provides space for Summer Camp held at the same location as their summer school program. As part of this partnership, LAPS school employees are provided Y memberships, serving some 240 employees annually, so that their staff may have access to healthy programs.

Please see the Espanola YMCA Teen Center's page for information on major Center partners.

Sponsor of Junior Roller Derby through their community endowment for compedtive youth sports in 2021 and 2022; and provided a major capacity-building grant to The Family YMCA for fundraising leadership training in 2022.
